An error occurred while saving the comment mac commentedThe networks always manage to do something to surprise us! I'll pass your account on to our resident bill wizard and see what we can do about that. Thanks for pointing it out!

An error occurred while saving the comment mac commentedIf you're paying £30 a month, I am quite sure that a 30 day SIM only deal would cost you less without tying you into a contract! While we can't compare them automatically, use the billmonitor calculator to investigate - hopefully we can save you some cash.

An error occurred while saving the comment mac commentedWhile you're definitely right, and we are going to consider adding them, a word of warning: buymobilephones.net doesn't always make it clear that the phone is refurbished, so that may be why the phone is free. Billmonitor currently does not contain refurbished phones.

An error occurred while saving the comment mac commentedWe take this into account on people's bills when the operators tell us about it, but often we can't know for sure what network a number is on, so we're not 100% sure what to do about it. We're keen to get it in though!

An error occurred while saving the comment mac commentedHi David,
I believe that the data you're seeing is in fact just the bundle - the bundle's allowance is being added to the list of allowances you see in the plan. I can see that this is pretty confusing, and I'll bring it up with the rest of the team.
Thanks for your feedback!

An error occurred while saving the comment mac commentedHi,
The problem here is not that our plans are out of date, but that the handset comes with a monthly cost attached to it. You could get the same tariff with another plan for £20, but to get the Desire, you have to pay an extra £12. This isn't displayed on our interface, which is really confusing, and I'm going to find a way to fix this asap! Thankyou for pointing it out!

An error occurred while saving the comment mac commentedWe do take same-network rates into account, but at the moment we can't account for family bundles. We'd really like to include them - it's on our list of things to do!

Hi guys,
This is a quote from Chris, one of the Billmonitor mathematicians. He explains it better than I could. Hope this clears up why we've gone for 3 months a bit.
"We did quite a bit of research on the optimal time-window of bills to analyse. 12 months is optimal if users behaviour remains more or less static over the year as it smooths out erratic outlier months. However, what we found is that for many users we see an increasing trend in usage, with people using more {minutes, texts, data} month on month. For these users, their usage 12 months ago is less representative of next months usage than say more recent months. When we did the research we found that 3 months (actually it was 2.8 months) provided the most accurate results on average across our user base.
It's a delicate balance. Ideally we would want to tailor the number of months to use to each user depending on individual usage trends -- but this is very hard to optimise and implement on an individual basis! Hence we had to settle on a compromise that optimises against the majority of the population, although I recognise that for some people this might not be the absolute best."
We are considering allowing users to adjust which time periods are included in their analysis but we haven't hit on anything we're happy with yet.
